Role Responsibility

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the Kent and Medway Prevent team as the Prevent Coordinator.

Prevent is part of CONTEST, the Government’s counter-terrorism strategy. The aim of Prevent is to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. Prevent tackles all forms of extremism – including both Islamist extremism and far right threats. This is achieved by challenging terrorist ideology; supporting vulnerable people and supporting sectors and institutions where there are risks of radicalisation.

This is a high profile role supporting the Prevent and Channel Strategic Manager to co-ordinate and deliver Prevent activity across Kent and Medway local authorities.

You will be politically astute and possess a strong understanding of the wider political landscape. You will have excellent communication and influencing skills and will be expected to represent the organisation at various internal and external meetings and engage with districts and boroughs and voluntary organisations.

The post will report to the Prevent and Channel Strategic Manager.

This post is subject to security clearance vetting.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
