Premises Development Officer

Role Responsibility

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for Customer Service and Building Management to Support our Building Users and join our expanding Capital and Strategic Programme Team, responsible for delivering a multitude of infrastructure projects across Kent.  As a Premises Development Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and completion of key initiatives to support the Local Authorities main objectives.  

In your role, you will be instrumental in providing high-quality Customer service primarily supporting educational establishments and KCC Infrastructure teams with building related matters including advice and direction on premise development and maintenance plans.  The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising and undertaking visits to schools, collaborating with other teams across Infrastructure and Directorates so there is a rolling programme of school premises reviews, including compliance audits.

Requirements

- Level 3 qualification working towards professional qualification in Property/Project Management/building related field (e.g. RICS/CIOB/APM)

- Experience of working in a building industry environment 

- Experience of multi-agency working within the building sector

- Experience of leading a one team approach and taking an active role in encouraging the team members to establish positive relationships and work collaboratively across the wider service

- High level of computer literacy

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications

- Ability to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines

- Strong communication skills both oral and written

- Able to work on own initiative, taking responsibility for actions and decisions surrounding areas of accountability, escalating matters where appropriate

- Relevant legislation including The Education (School Premises) Regulations and Construction Design and Management Regulations

- Decision making skills delivering positive yet sensitive outcomes, knowing when to escalate

- Be able to demonstrate best practices on school maintenance plans and ensuring school meet their compliant regulations  

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
