Practice Consultant - Neurodiverse Children and Young People with Complex Needs

Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic Health, Education or Social Care Professional with a good range of experience in the area of supporting Children and Young People with Complex Neurodiverse conditions including learning disabilities and/or autism, and are you looking for a new challenge and wanting to develop/enhance your experience working at strategic and system level? 

Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group in partnership with Kent County Council has already appointed four Practice Consultants, two of whom are social workers and two of whom are teachers, we are now looking to expand the team with two additional posts; to continue to support the mobilisation and development of the NHS England funded Designated Key Worker Programme.

The Practice Consultant role is an opportunity to work systemically with Children, Young People, and their families, supporting community health, education, and social care teams to improve co-ordination of their service response and deliver timely interventions. Reducing the risks of admission to specialist hospitals or prevent further escalation of risk for those children and young people displaying behaviour that challenges.

These are system support roles and there is an expectation that the post holders will have working knowledge of the Children Act 89 and Children and Families Act 2014, Mental Health Act and be knowledgeable on the Designated Key Worker ambition as detailed in the NHS Long Term Plan. The role would best suit practitioners who are currently an experienced professional in their field of practice looking to extend their skill set and enjoy a new challenge.

The role will be aligned to the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Partnerships, (ICP) Swale/Medway and Dartford/Gravesham/Swanley. There will be an expectation that the successful candidate will work within a virtual team providing the support necessary within the team to assure the success of the Designated Key Worker Programme across the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System. It is advised potential applicants express their choice of ICP upon application.

This role will be a 2-year fixed term contract with expressions for secondment welcomed.

Secondment applicants will need to have the consent of their employing organisation.

This is a full-time post though expressions for part time hours will be considered.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
