Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate individual to join the Accommodation Team within KCC 18+ Care Leavers Service as a Personal Adviser (Housing Specialist).

This post will be based at Thistley Hill with a move to Dover District Council offices in the planning stages.  The role will have the primary focus of preventing and addressing homelessness amongst Kent County Council’s care leaving cohort, including support for citizen and former UASC young people.

We are looking to recruit an innovative and committed individual, who would be able to think on their feet and work to address the accommodation needs of young people as they present and work as a liaison between the young person, personal advisers, local housing authorities and wider community partners.

The appointee will provide support and guidance to ensure that the young people are afforded every opportunity to meet their own housing needs, to effectively help plan the accommodation journey of the young person and to avoid the potential experience of homelessness, wherever possible.

The successful applicant will strive to meet the objectives of the KCC Homelessness Reduction Project and to support the overall aims of understanding of the responsibilities involved in sustaining long term sustainable accommodation, which underpin the approach of the Accommodation Team within the 18+ Service.

The ability to travel across the county in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

The successful candidate will receive quality monthly supervision, enjoy good support from peers and have access to a wide range of training opportunities.

Kent values our staff as individuals and we aim to help you to achieve your full potential.

As part of the employment deal, we offer a competitive range of benefits and flexible employment conditions to ensure you make the most of your time working at KCC.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
