Permanent Relief Support Worker

Role Responsibility

Dover Community Day Service currently based at the Walmer Centre, Walmer, Deal,

is looking to recruit a Permanent Relief Support Worker to assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of adults with learning disabilities. This will be achieved by using a person centered approach, providing encouragement, support and assistance and promoting the social inclusion, rights and choice of those with a learning disability, enabling people to live more independent and fulfilled lives.

You will be supporting people with learning disabilities to access activities and participate fully in their local community; therefore an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour and people with more complex care and support needs is essential.

This position will involve direct community support for the people who use the service 

Therefore the candidate will need to have very good communication skills, excellent organisation skills and a demonstrable basic level of I.T knowledge necessary for this role.

The successful candidate will have a level 3 Diploma or NVQ in Health & Social Care or equivalent and will work towards completion of the care certificate. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
