Permanent Relief Practitioner - Victim Voice

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

Do you want to make a genuine, positive difference to victims of youth crime in Kent? Do you understand the impact of restorative justice on both victims and young people who offend? At Kent Youth Justice we’re looking for somebody, with an excellent understanding of restorative approaches, to be a key part of our victim voice team.  Working alongside colleagues to improve the services we deliver; you will be responsible for ensuring that the voices of victims are central to our interventions with young people.

You will be required to make direct contact with victims, giving them the opportunity to share their thoughts, wishes and feelings, as well as the impact the crime has had on their lives. You will need to have great communication, listening and empathy skills, and have knowledge of the support available to them across Kent. Within our service and in partnership with external agencies we are developing our restorative justice offer to victims and young people, and you will play an active part in implementing this work.

We’re more interested in who you are, than in what you’ve studied. If you can engage victims and sensitively guide them through a restorative process, then this could be the role for you.

If this sounds like a role for you, please read the Job Description and Person Specification and demonstrate in your application that you can fulfil the requirements of this role.

We’re looking for outstanding, flexible, sessional practitioners (zero hours) to work across Youth Justice.  Whether you’re looking to work Monday-Friday 9-5 or for a few weekend or evening hours, we can discuss what you, and what we, need.

While successful candidates will need an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, having your own experience of the justice system isn’t always a barrier to working with us. We also welcome candidates who have personal experience of the care system. If you’d like to talk to us about this before applying, please contact Ellie Powling on 03000 418588.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Interviews are currently scheduled for Wednesday 21st April 2021.
