Pensions Assistant

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

We are looking to recruit multiple Pensions Assistants to join our large, friendly, busy team, based in Maidstone, Kent. Please note that the the primary location of the role is Invicta House, although we undertake hybrid working, meaning that we work from home and the office, depending on business needs. For example, office working may be required for training, to attend briefings and for collaboration projects. The positions are permanent, advertised for full time (37 hours per week) but part time applications will be considered along with business needs. Candidates successful at interview will be offered permanent contracts and the weekly hours of these contracts would be discussed, taking into consideration business needs.
This is an entry level role, therefore whilst it is recognised that candidates’ knowledge or experience of pensions may be limited, a willingness to learn about pensions is crucial. You will need to have good numerical and organisational skills, the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, excellent communication skills and be flexible. Good IT skills are essential, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.

The Pensions Assistant role is very varied and you will undertake a range of administrative tasks including helping those joining the pension scheme, current members of the scheme and those leaving the scheme. Part of your role will involve communicating by telephone and in writing with our customers as well as external organisations, so you will need to be able to deal with sensitive matters and provide the best customer care. Please see attached job description for full details. These positions have become vacant due to the internal promotion of the previous post holders and the need to expand our team to meet demand.

Our vacancies are for roles in the ‘Pensions Communication & Support Team’ and the ‘Pension Administration Team’, all roles involve supporting Kent Pension Fund.

As an employee of Kent County Council, you will receive excellent benefits, including 27 days annual leave (29 days after 5 years’ service) and membership of the pension scheme.  Full training and support will be provided and there will be opportunities for career progression, including support to gain pensions qualifications.

If you are interested in pensions and enjoy working in a busy customer focused environment, we would be very keen to hear from you. We politely request that all applicants state their interest, skills and experience for this pensions role (relevant to the job description) in the ‘Reason for Application’ section of their online application form.

We are expecting a high volume of interest in these roles, therefore shortlisting decision-making will be based on the details provided by candidates in their ‘Reason for Application’. Please could part-time applicants state the minimum number of hours they would be willing to work per week.

These posts are considered by KCC to be customer-facing positions. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
