Parenting Tutor

We are looking for tutors with an Early Years background to teach Parenting courses.

 

Family Learning is a part of Community Learning and Skills at Kent Adult Education and we deliver a wide variety of engaging and interesting courses to families in the community. Our aim is to support fathers, mothers and carers to engage and enjoy life with their children.  The role of a Family Learning Tutor is hugely interesting, enjoyable and rewarding.

 

Our programme includes Parenting, Family English, maths and Language (ESOL), personal development, health and wellbeing, basic cookery, family first aid and creative courses with embedded English and Maths. 

 

We work with a range of primary schools, children’s centres and community-based venues across Kent. Our full programme of courses ranges from one, three, four, and up to sixteen weeks and are usually delivered in two, or two and a half, hour sessions per week. Some classes involve children.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with and support families to help them to enjoy their family life together.  We offer a range of Parenting courses including Managing Children’s Behaviour, Autism Awareness, Building Family Resilience, Understanding Your Teenager to name a few.

 

The role of a Family Learning tutor is interesting, enjoyable and above all, hugely rewarding. To join our successful, supportive and dedicated team you will need to show that you:

 

Hold relevant teaching and subject qualifications.

Have experience of working with families in the community.

Are motivated to make learning fun, enjoyable and inspirational.

Are willing to produce lesson plans and complete standardised paperwork.

Have the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

Are flexible to teach various hours during the week including evenings and in school holidays (and the very occasional Saturday by prior agreement).

Have experience of teaching online using Zoom.

 

You will be paid for preparation as well as teaching time on a ratio of 1:1 and be expected to attend three tutor meetings per year and actively engage with CPD.

 

You will work in a range of primary schools, Children’s Centres, community-based venues and online from home.

In particular, we are looking for tutors to teach in the areas of: Maidstone, Swale, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and online.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

 

Preferred start date September 2022 with some training before this date by agreement.
