Panel Adviser

Role Responsibility

We are currently seeking to recruit a full time Panel Adviser in the Adoption Service who will work in our busy Panel Team. 

The successful applicant will hold a degree in social work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent and  will have a variety of post-qualification experience of working within Children’s Services and a knowledge of adoption. They will provide support to the Team Manager and have the ability to work through complex cases in a calm and efficient manner within a pressured environment.  It will be essential therefore to have excellent communication, literacy skills and an ability to work to timescales.

The successful applicant will be a Social Worker with at least five years post qualification experience and relevant management experience. Evidence of continuing Professional Development must be maintained. An understanding of diversity and difference issues is essential.

The Panel Adviser is responsible for liaison between the Agency, Agency Decision Makers, Chairs and the Adoption Panel. This includes feedback on performance. They will attend the Panel as the Agency Adviser. The Panel Adviser will quality assure and oversee the collation and presentation of papers to the Chairs, Panel Members and Agency Decision Maker. 

The Panel Adviser will collate and quality assure papers and formulate reports to be submitted to the ADM when considering a plan of adoption for a child. 

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
