PRU, Inclusion & Attendance Service Manager
Role Responsibility
Kent County Council has a rare and exciting opportunity for an exceptional PRU, Inclusion and attendance Service Manager to work within our outstanding Local Authority. The ideal candidate will provide the strategic leadership for the development and management of the Pupil Referral Units (PRU’s) and alternative provision in Kent. You will also ensure the fulfilment of the local authority’s statutory and other responsibilities in relation to the education and the full-time attendance of children and young people.
Our appointee will work in collaboration with staff at all levels including senior leaders from across the Children Young People and Education Directorate. The role will be responsible for managing a team of staff and will be accountable to the Director of Integrated Children’s Services for the improvement and performance of service delivery. Candidates will need to be first class communicators in all forms and have high level skills in negotiating and influencing. You will have detailed knowledge of the legal and inspection framework and statutory requirements relating to school attendance, inclusion, and PRU’s.
The role is ambitious but realistic. The post-holder will be expected to work from a range of different locations in Kent and will also be able to enjoy the flexibility of working from home. KCC will support you with excellent career progression and opportunities to develop.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
