Role Responsibility

Positive Behaviour Support - Family Support Worker

1X Permanent Full Time Post - 37 hours per week

Do you want to be part of a growing and exciting service? We are recruiting a Positive Behaviour Support Family Support Worker into the Strengthening Independence Service for Disabled Children and Young Adults (0-25).

You will undertake time-limited, outcomes-focused work with Disabled Children and Young People aged 0-25 and their families and support them to continue to care for their Child or Young person within the family or home. You will promote change within families and support Young People as they prepare to become adults and in their early adult life. You will work under the direction of the Provision Manager, working in conjunction with Social Workers and their Team Managers.

You will be working with Children, Young People and their families to support:

  • early intervention to develop and implement PBS strategies to manage behaviours of concern.
  • intensive work to prevent children and young people having to leave their family home
  • supporting the development of independence skills
  • time-limited outcome focused interventions
  • Undertake the delivery of parent/ carer workshops across a range of required needs.

You will need to be able to work flexibly, including some evening and weekend work, to fit in with families’ availability. You will be based at one of the Overnight Short Break Units in the east of the county and receive support and training for the role, so this will give great opportunities for your own development. 

The bases with be Dartford/ Gravesend, However, most work will be with families in the community or home working.
