Role Responsibility

Working with Sevenoaks District Council to support the delivery of  Disabled Facilities Grants, and associated housing projects.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist (KR9-10) to work directly with Sevenoaks District Council to deliver personalised and functional occupational therapy assessments, where it has been identified that a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) may facilitate those people living with a disability to live more independent and safer lives.  You will be required to make detailed recommendations regarding the essential adaptations required to meet the person’s needs under the DFG and to identify and prescribe any specialist associated equipment needed to support the adaptation.

Although the successful candidate will be employed by Kent County Council, you will be seconded and based with Sevenoaks District Council.  This will ensure that the Occupational Therapist is fully immersed in the Housing Team, whilst also being professionally supported by regular clinical supervision from a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist from Kent County Council.  Full training and support, with induction will be provided by both Kent County Council and Sevenoaks District Council.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner throughout the working day is essential.  You will need to have good IT skills and be able to work under pressure to prioritise work and manage your time effectively.  The successful candidate will also be an excellent communicator and be able to develop effective working relationships with all partners across Housing, Social Care, Health and voluntary services, to ensure that the person’s needs are met.

The role will also require you to oversee any other work and projects related to housing issues and assessment around disability in the area as directed by the Council.

The role is a fixed term contract, ending on 31 March 2023.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and a relevant professional qualification (Occupational Therapy) as well as up to date registration with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
