Mental Health Adult Safeguarding Practitioner

Role Responsibility

Are you passionate about promoting good practice in Mental Health Adult Safeguarding? Do you excel in working closely with individuals using a person centred, strengths-based approach in achieving what is important to people and in promoting wellbeing?   Can you lead on directing and managing responses to safeguarding concerns raised for individuals at risk of, or experiencing abuse in line with statutory frameworks? 

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced social worker to join our well established and supportive Mental Health Adult Safeguarding Team.  In this role, you will be responsible for instigating, coordinating, and managing safeguarding enquiries as well working collaboratively with others to support and develop good safeguarding practices.

You would be joining our countywide managed team working closely with the locality Adult Social Care teams and local communities, as well as also overseeing safeguarding concerns raised within the Mental Health inpatient setting and forensic Service. 

You will also:

  • Work closely with the Mental Health safeguarding coordinators to ensure new initiatives in practice, changes in policies and legislations are reflected in practice.
  • Work alongside Commissioners and colleagues to promote quality improvement and preventative practices with care providers.
  • Work closely with internal and external partners and communities to improve outcomes for residents of Kent.

You will be expected to work as part of the County Mental Health Adult Safeguarding Team to ensure a robust safeguarding response across the County and to utilise peer support.  Hence you will need to be able to travel across the County flexibly.

Elements of the role can be undertaken through remote working and contractual base is negotiable. 

Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP’s) applying for this post will be required to continue to contribute to the AMHP rota.

You should have extensive practice experience in adult Safeguarding and significant Mental Health experience, you will be educated to degree (or equivalent) level in social work with appropriate professional registration with Social Work England
