Role Responsibility

Fixed Term Contract: 1 Year

Are you looking for an opportunity to further your career in marketing and communications within the largest local authority in the UK?

In these unprecedented times it has never been more important for us to communicate effectively with residents and businesses by generating creative, high-impact and targeted marketing and PR.

As Communications Officer for Kent County Council’s Marketing and Resident Experience team you will be supporting the adult and children’s social care directorate and our public health division, managing reactive media enquiries, and creating content for our website and social media channels to proactively promote the vital services we provide. We want someone who thinks creatively, has a good instinct for news stories and who can manage multiple projects with ease. You will join a friendly team of marketing and communications professionals who work hard to manage the reputation of the council and ensure the voice of our residents is heard at all levels. The team manages KCC’s digital channels, media and PR activity, proactive marketing campaigns, public consultations and engagement and complaints.

So if you’re a motivated communicator, who is looking for a new challenge and the ability to make a real difference to people’s lives, please apply.

The role is currently home based, but KCC Communications Officers are occasionally expected to travel to events, press briefings and council meetings across Kent when necessary, to promote and support Members and officers. The role also requires out of hours working for key media announcements and breaking stories, as well as participation in an out of hours duty rota.
