Local Authority Designated Officer

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced social work practitioner to join the County LADO Service as one of Kent’s Local Authority Designated Officers. We are a small, busy and supportive service and part of Kent’s Safeguarding, Quality Assurance and Professional Standard’s Unit. 

We are looking for a self-motivated professional to join us part time for a 158 month fixed term contract or secondment.  The part time days will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week (3 full time days 830-5pm).   This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the statutory safeguarding service continuing to raise awareness around allegation management and the role of the LADO.

You will be responsible for managing safeguarding consultations and allegations concerning members of staff that hold a position of trust within the children’s workforce.  You will work closely with colleagues from a variety of agencies to ensure allegations are investigated robustly and effectively with a child-centred focus, whilst also being balanced against an understanding of the needs of the setting and employee.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
