Level 1 Accountant

Role Responsibility

We have an opportunity for a Level 1 Accountant in Finance, within the 0-25 Revenue Team, Kent County Council (KCC).  This post is offered to provide Maternity Cover for up to 10 months, starting June 2021. Both internal and external applicants are welcome. For internal applicants, this opportunity is offered as a secondment. Please see attached job description for full details.

The Role

The successful applicant will be Educated to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent (e.g. AAT), and/or proven ability to deliver the requirements of the post and experience of working in a financial setting. The role is responsible for completing two specific home office funding claims each month. Furthermore, the role involves assisting with the preparation of the annual revenue budget and monthly budget monitoring statements as per KCC policies, accountancy procedures and and processes.

You will have excellent spreadsheet skills (Microsoft Excel) and be a competent user of other Microsoft office software e.g. Word and Outlook. You will have good communication skills and experience of working with senior officers, Heads of service, and budget managers.  You will have detailed knowledge of the processes for budget preparation, budget monitoring and budgetary control. You will be part of a team and will be expected to work alongside other accountants to achieve shared objectives.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
