Kent & Medway Strengthening Family Relationships Practitioner

Fixed Term Contract ending in March 2026

Kent & Medway Councils have an exciting joint opportunity to recruit a Practitioner to work as part of the Strengthening Family Relationships (SFRteam.   To promote awareness and understanding of the SFR programme for reducing the impact of inter-parental conflict on children and young people, as part of a whole family approach.

The successful applicant will deliver training practice, and support partner agencies to promote an integrated and joined up approach in delivering sustainable interventions that improve outcomes for children, young people and their families across Kent and Medway. A key aspect of the role will be to develop and promote inclusion of parents from different backgrounds and experiences in the SFR programme. 

The successful candidate will have strong communication, data analysis, and interpersonal skills; along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of operational managers, voluntary sector, parents and young people.

This post is considered by KCC and Medway to be a customer-facing position. The Councils therefore have a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. 

The contractual base is Invicta House, Maidstone. The post-holder will be expected to work from different locations in Kent & Medway and some working from home.  Role requires occasional working out of office hours to deliver workshops and training. The work covers a large geographical location and so this role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle – the Councils are committed to making reasonable adjustments, so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
