Role Responsibility

Project Management Graduate Programme (Economic Development)

Kent County Council

Start your project management career inspiring millions of residents

Good project management is vital to any organisation. But when you’re part of the Kent County Council Economic Development team – your decisions will change lives.

In practice, you’ll join a team that secures financial contributions from housing developers to fund schools and other community services. Over the two years, you’ll build the skills you need to thrive as a public sector professional – and progress into a permanent Project Officer role within our Portfolio and Project Management team.

The three-year Graduate Programme

During a series of placements, you’ll work at the heart of some of our most critical projects. Expect to help identify new housing sites, analyse the impact of planned developments, update our records and manage our data systems, develop reports, deliver presentations, and spend time with other teams to understand the impact of Infrastructure across the Council.

Alongside the live work, you’ll develop a deep understanding of our project management methodologies and find there’s a real emphasis on the soft personal skills you need to become a successful project manager. We’ll support your studies towards the Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship qualification too.

Who can apply?

Able to think innovatively, you’ll bring at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in any discipline and GCSEs in English and Maths (grades C or above). Any experience of supporting new initiatives, evaluating data and delivering presentations will help. But resilience is key – you need to be a confident communicator who can adapt to different colleagues and inspire momentum.
