Kent Biodiversity Net Gain Officer
Role Responsibility
The newly created role of Kent Biodiversity Net Gain Officer presents an exciting opportunity to play a critical part in ensuring net gain contributes to the recovery of nature and brings meaningful and long terms benefits to Kent’s biodiversity.
The post holder will shape policy and drive the delivery of biodiversity net gain in Kent by working with the county’s planning authorities in their preparation for biodiversity net gain, developing a consistent and joined up approach within the county that meets the requirements of the Environment Act, whilst addressing the local challenges to its implementation. The post will also play a key role in securing offsite delivery options and supporting ambitions for net gain delivery above mandatory minimum 10% requirements.
The post holder will deliver their work with the support and guidance of the Natural Environment & Coast Manager and the Kent Nature Partnership’s Biodiversity Net Gain group and will work closely with Kent’s planning authorities. The post sits within Kent County Council’s Natural Environment & Coast team, delivering strategic work for the protection, restoration and enhancement of the county’s wildlife and habitats.
The successful candidate will understand the potential this policy offers nature recovery and will have the vision and skills to work with partners to deliver this. The role offers a great opportunity for professional development, leading on a new and developing policy area. Secondments will be considered.
This post offers an annual market premium payment of £3,487, to be paid in monthly instalments (subject to yearly review)
