Role Responsibility

Instructor / Monitor; NDORS Courses – Part time 18 Hours

Have you a demonstrable commitment to making our roads safer? Do you have the skills and abilities to deliver set training standards and to identify development needs in individuals who provide this training? Can you give constructive feedback as well as deliver effective training?

Kent County Council (KCC) is looking to recruit a part time member of staff to complete the team and to act as an Instructor / Monitor for the range of National Driver Offender Retraining Schemes (NDORS) that we provide. KCC is a Service Provider to Kent Police for NDORS courses and delivers several education and training activities that must adhere to national models.

This is a key role within the Kent Driver Education Team and contributes to our broader aims for achieving the Vision Zero Strategy by encouraging responsible driver / rider behaviour as a mechanism to reduce road crash casualties.

The post holder will be required to instruct, monitor and deliver courses via a digital platform and also in venues across Kent. They will need to be able to travel around the county to monitor the quality of Trainer delivery against the national model, as well as to promote the standards set out by KCC. They will be required to identify development needs and devise improvement plans as well as to provide feedback to managers. They will also be KCCs primary Instructor for each of the NDORS courses and provide ‘train the Trainer’ input.

There will be the need to support or lead regular Trainer development days and to play an active role in the Trainer Development Group.

The post holder will be required to attend appropriate meetings and development opportunities around the country, for which overnight accommodation will be paid when necessary.

As there is a need to travel around the county, the post holder will need to evidence they can travel in a timely and efficient manner around Kent and Medway.

This role is part time and requires some flexibility in how the hours are distributed over the week. This is to ensure KCC meet the requirements of the governing body by ensuring all Trainers are monitored across all course types.

As our service offers flexible working the postholder may work from home if required but they must be able to work in a secure location due to the confidential information being recorded and discussed with the clients.

There will be agreed office days required for all team members including team meetings and preparation of course materials. This is in addition to delivering and monitoring courses at venues across Kent.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Interviews to be held between 09 and 16 May 2023
