Role Responsibility
The Information Resilience & Transparency Team is looking to recruit an Information Governance Specialist.
Reporting to the Information Governance Manager, you will assist in the provision of support, guidance and training to both elected members, and operational units in best practice to achieve regulatory compliance. You will also assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures necessary to ensure Kent County Council complies with Information Governance legislation.
You should be able to manage your own time, develop good working relationships with both operational units and members and be able to communicate effectively. You should also be confident, excellent at identifying solutions and be willing to question and challenge established practices.
You should hold relevant Data Protection and Freedom of Information qualifications (for example the UK GDPR Practitioner Certification). Or have extensive proven practical experience of handling requests and internal reviews under Freedom of Information / Environmental Information Regulations, dealing with Subject Access requests and investigating data breaches.
The package includes membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, performance related pay, generous leave entitlement and flexible working arrangements. The post will be officially based at Sessions House, Maidstone and may involve some travel, for example delivering training courses at other Kent locations. However, at the moment, the role is primarily working from home.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
