Role Responsibility

About us

The Information Resilience & Transparency Team coordinates and manages formal requests for information, facilitating Kent County Council’s compliance with Access to Information legislation. In the last financial year, the Team handled over 6500 requests for information.

We are looking for a motivated, conscientious individual to join our busy, hardworking team.

You will be managing requests for information falling within the scope of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018.

You will log and acknowledge requests for information, coordinate the location and collation of information falling within the scope of the request, and will be responsible for ensuring the applicant receives a legally compliant response within statutory timescales.

You can work from home most days, but we will require you to attend our office in Maidstone once or twice a week.

About you

  • You should be aware of the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
  • You should know what rights they give to people and what obligations they place on organisations like Kent County Council
  • You should have excellent level of literacy as you will be required to communicate with members of the public, drafting replies to requests and complaints on a variety of subjects.
  • You should be able to prioritise and organise a busy workload to ensure KCC meets statutory deadlines and corporate timescales.
  • You should be able to use MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
  • If you have experience working in a busy customer facing department, a positive attitude and are not intimidated by large volumes of work, then we would encourage you to apply!

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
