Highways Engineering Project Manager

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Highway Engineering Schemes Project Manager, in the Schemes Planning & Delivery Team, based at our Ashford depot.

As a Schemes Project Manager you will play a key role delivering safety critical and other programmed highways schemes. This role is fundamental in supporting the personal injury casualty reduction aims of the team.

The role forms a part of a cross cutting team to investigate, design or commission and deliver highway improvement schemes including casualty reduction measures, combined member grant, developer funded schemes and Integrated Transport schemes.  The role also requires the officer to investigate and manage customer requests for changes to the highway.  The role is uniquely varied and offers an exciting opportunity to develop a broad set of skills.

The position of Schemes Project Manager covers a variety of tasks centred around highways alterations and localised improvements. You will need an interest in transportation and ability to apply practical solutions to the KCC highway network. An advantage would be working knowledge of the TSRGD, road safety audits, traffic management and/or experience in CAD highways design (or using similar software).

You will need to be an excellent team player and be able to establish good working relationships with a variety of teams and stakeholders throughout the Highways, Transportation and Waste Directorate, working as one team to deliver great customer service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. Note: The role will be based at home where possible during the Covid-19 pandemic.
