Highway Safety Inspector
Role Responsibility
Kent County Council (KCC) maintains 8,700km (5,400 miles) of highway network and associated “assets”.
Our roads, footways, street lights, street furniture, traffic signals, gullies and drains, trees, grass verges, signs, road markings, bridges and other structures are all publicly maintainable highway assets. These assets help to ensure that journeys around and through the county are safe and reliable.
We are looking for a motivated individual to join the team as one of Kent’s Highway Inspector’s. As a Highways Inspector you will play a key role in Kent County Council’s management of a safe highway network. You will be part of a countywide team of inspectors tasked with the identification of all defects likely to create danger or serious inconvenience to users of the network or the wider community. You will need to demonstrate the ability to use a risk-based approach and provide a practical and reasonable evaluation of the risks and potential consequences identified taking into account all highway users and in particular the most vulnerable.
Kent’s Highways Inspectors are based at 6 depots within the county of Kent and work as part of a county wide team, undertaking statutory walked and driven inspections of roads, footways and cycle tracks.
As one of Kent’s Highway Safety Inspector’s you will be using the latest mobile technology; you will ensure accurate and timely recording of inspections and demonstrate attention to detail when raising job orders to ensure the safety of work crews and the travelling public.
If you are able to prioritise and organise your own workload and be a team player, work to tight deadlines and be methodical in your approach then this is the post for you.
