Highway Engineer

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Operations Team, as Highway Engineer for Maidstone. This will be a full-time position on a 37 hours per week contract (Monday to Friday). Candidates will be able to utilise hybrid working with a mixture of working from home and the office. The office base will be Aylesford Depot. The role is KR9 with a salary range from £32,933 to £37,188.

The Highway Operations teams aim to help everyone to make safe and reliable journeys on Kent’s highway network. We do this by regularly inspecting roads and footways, repairing faults and damage quickly, responding to highway emergency situations (including winter maintenance, flooding and other severe weather response), resolving faults reported by customers and engaging with local communities, Parish and District Councils.

The successful candidate will provide engineering support for five Highway Stewards employed in the maintenance of highways infrastructure, liaising with and supporting other areas of Transportation to ensure that we provide an efficient and outstanding service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who can provide sound technical advice within the highways maintenance and asset management field.

The post-holder must be prepared to undertake work outside normal office hours in the interests of the service.

This role is subject to holding a full UK Driving Licence.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
