Role Responsibility
We are looking for a knowledgeable and resourceful person to join our team operating a service that provides information, advice and support to parents/carers of a child with special educational needs and disabilities. We offer the same service to children and young people age up to 25 who have a special educational need or disability. The purpose is to provide information to empower children, young people and their parents to have positive communication with their school, college and local authority about the child/young person’s education.
You will be providing advice, support and information via telephone, email and sometimes face to face (currently via video), so you must be able to evidence excellent communication skills both written and oral.
You will be expected to undertake accredited training about legislation relating to the special educational needs and disabilities code of practice 2015.
An understanding of the issues relating to families of children and young people with special educational needs is essential.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
