Head of Strategic Commissioning (Public Health) -Maternity Cover
Role Responsibility
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to take on the role as Head of Strategic Commissioning aligned to Public Health on a temporary basis. This would be covering Maternity leave and approximate dates would be for the role to commence mid July 2021 and run until Autumn 2022. Exact dates will be confirmed.
The role will lead and manage a team of staff responsible for professional delivery of public health commissioning activities within the commissioning cycle, monitoring of spending and ensuring it provides value for money and meets the needs of the citizens in Kent. It will include budget management responsibilities and support oversight and delivery of COVID-19 grants which are aligned to the public health budget.
The post holder will need to work closely with the Public Health Advice team in the council and ideally have a good understanding of both public health and commissioning.
Collaborative working with other parts of KCC will be essential to ensure an efficient approach to the management and delivery of services. The post holder will need also to work jointly with partners, such as those in the NHS to support integration and shared agendas.
To undertake these activities, they will have expert knowledge and practical experience in commercial leadership and judgement

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
As part of the interview process for this role you may be required to complete additional testing.
