Head of Service - Business Support

Role Responsibility

Purpose of the job

Kent County Council Adult Social Care and Health Directorate are seeking an experienced professional to assume the role of Head of Service to provide direction and establish priorities in all matters related to the Business Support function.  

The Head of Service will play an essential role in seeking new opportunities for improved ways of working with an ongoing transformational role.  This is an exciting time to join our leadership team in this newly introduced role, we are aware of the opportunities ahead of us and what we can achieve with the right leadership in place.

About You

As Head of Service, you will:

  • be an experienced manager with strong leadership skills, driving and displaying professional standards and behaviour.
  • need to demonstrate expertise in managing and monitoring budgets, planning and adapting resources to ensure delivery of a flexible, consistent high quality and cost-effective service. 
  • have a proven track record of developing and managing staff, including performance management for an outstanding business support service.

Our focus is to work as one council to design and deliver a cohesive, modern public service offer for all Kent’s residents, businesses and communities. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

The post is subject to a Basic Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and all relevant professional qualifications.

The interview process will commence Thursday 20 June, psychometric testing will form part of the selection process for shortlisted candidates.
