Role Responsibility
We're looking for a Graduate PMO Project Officer to support, monitor and review activity relating to specific projects within the Growth, Environment & Transport (GET) Directorate.
The GET Directorate is made up of a mix of key frontline, strategic, policy and commercial functions and plays a major role in making Kent a better place to live, work and visit. The services provided, and the future growth we help to shape, affects every household in Kent. Our work supports everything from transport improvement schemes and waste disposal services to the maintenance of country parks and libraries. Everything we do is about making Kent the county it needs to be for the future and in this vital role, you'll have a key part to play in our work.
You'll support a range of projects across the Directorate at every stage of their lifecycle. This includes everything from the pre-assessment, initiation, and planning to the management, development and closure of projects. You'll also monitor and evaluate the progress of work, identifying issues and scope for improvement. All the way through you'll provide advice and support to other teams across the Directorate, ensuring processes are in accordance with governance expectations.
To ensure standards are met you'll gather, collate, maintain and analyse monitoring and performance information for all stages of our projects. This means you'll research PMO best practice and industry developments, as well as engage with other teams to encourage shared learning. What's more, you'll get the opportunity to communicate with stakeholders, building effective working relationships to ensure informed decision making takes place.
About You:
You'll have a 2:1 degree or equivalent and some experience of work involving analysis or review in a range of settings. A willingness to work towards an Improvement Practitioner apprenticeship is essential, as is a commitment to further professional development. Your interpersonal skills are second to none, so building effective, collaborative working relationships will come naturally to you. You're also a creative, strategic thinker, which is vital to facilitating every aspect of a project. Plus, you've got great organisational, time-management and negotiation skills. Above all, you'll be a real team player and excited to learn.
At Kent County Council we have a number of values that enable us to build a flexible, compassionate, inclusive and empowering culture. We're dedicated to working together as we deliver for the best interests of our county, and are focused on putting our residents, families and communities at the heart of decision making. If you believe in these values and are ready to make a positive contribution to our work, we want to hear from you.
In return for your graduate skills and commitment to working in the Public Sector, you'll enjoy a range of benefits when you join Kent County Council, including:
- Flexible working
- A generous holiday entitlement of 26 days, plus 8 bank holiday days a year
- Exciting training and career development opportunities
- Access to a range of local and national discounts and cashback through our Kent Rewards website
