Join us on our two-year Graduate Programme, and you will help shape how we deliver our statutory duties relating to democracy, data and law, with your reach being felt across the council.

As a member of the newly-formed Operational Delivery Team, you will have the opportunity to get involved in complex transformation projects, and gain an extensive knowledge of our highly varied data, democracy and law responsibilities.

Throughout the programme you will have the chance to undertake placements in different teams in the division to gain more experience in areas of particular interest to you; developing skills and undertaking training to prepare you for more senior roles within the division.

During their time on the Programme, our most recent graduates had the chance to work on the transition to virtual committee meetings during the pandemic, and were a part of the Election Project Team, supporting the delivery of the 2021 Kent County Council elections.

Over the course of the programme, you will be given a great deal of autonomy as you manage your own project workstreams relating to the development of new systems, procedures and technologies, seeing to it that the best possible outcomes are being achieved on time and within budget. You will be encouraged to identify and suggest innovative initiatives and activities that we should be undertaking, and we will support you as you learn how to interpret the potential impact of legislation and technology on your projects.

You’ll discover there’s a strong emphasis on personal and professional development here, we will provide a structured training plan to develop your career, and you’ll be supported in studying for an associate project manager apprenticeship.

About You

We want you to thrive in your career – and to stay with us for many years to come. To make the most of this interesting opportunity you will therefore hold a 2:1 degree (or be predicted a 2:1 degree) or possess an equivalent qualification in any discipline. With a great awareness of the workings of local government, you will have previously managed a project, and your problem-solving skills will be complemented by the capacity to think strategically. We are a collaborative organisation with a deeply supportive ethos, so you will also be a team player who is keen to develop great working relationships.

Vacancy Timetable:

Closing date Midnight Monday 31st January 2022

Candidates will be invited to complete a first sift activity Tuesday 1st - Monday 14th February 2022. Final stage interviews short listed candidates will be invited to attend interview Friday 11th March 2022.

Start date : Successful candidates will join KCC on either  Monday 4th April or Monday 5th September 2022. Please state clearly in your application your preferred start date.
