Do you see yourself making a difference as part of a team creating high quality, accessible website experiences for the residents of Kent?

Do you strive to continually learn, innovate, and improve using the latest best practices?

Our Marketing and Resident Experience (MRX) team needs an experienced Frontend Developer with strong vanilla JavaScript skills to:

  • build, maintain, and improve our websites and functionality,
  • help the team deal with technical issues
  • identify opportunities to create even better digital experiences.

Whether it’s explaining new policies, helping residents access our services or promoting innovative initiatives that make a real difference to the lives of people in Kent, we need your frontend development expertise to help make it happen.

 You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering a variety of website development projects, from scoping and design through to testing, optimisation, deployment and maintenance

  • Turning flat designs/mock-ups and creative content ideas into fully-functioning web pages or components

  • Collaborating with content, design and marketing teams, as well as other stakeholders, to gather and clarify requirements, appraise options and create accessible, user-centred website experiences

  • Developing, testing, deploying, documenting and maintaining front-end codebases, workflows and processes, CMS templates, components and integrations

  • Supporting and advising non-technical colleagues and content designers on risks, implications, optimum solutions, and best practices

  • Making sure our websites comply with relevant accessibility regulations, UX principles and coding standards.

About you

  • You have an excellent track record of developing accessible, user-centred, responsive websites with high quality, standards-compliant code
  • You have excellent frontend development skills, especially with HTML 5, CSS 3, and vanilla JavaScript, as well as experience of TypeScript, React and Test-Driven Development
  • You’re not afraid to challenge or to be challenged, you’re curious about how things can be improved, you’re keen to continually learn and develop, and you take responsibility for the difference you make through your work
  • You love to collaborate, are highly organised with a keen attention to detail, and have the flexibility to change course when required
  • You work exceptionally well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, focused on shared goals and can work effectively in a remote working environment

If you love building websites that can transform the way we do things and want to be a part of making that happen we want to hear from you!

Work that works for you and us – let’s talk flexibility
