Fostering Social Worker

Role Responsibility

Full time (Part Time could be considered) Kent Fostering Assessment and Recruitment Team 1 based at Brook House, Whitstable.

The Kent Fostering Assessment Team 1 is an established team within the Kent Fostering Service looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker.

You will be a motivated social work practitioner, passionate about fostering, with sound interpersonal skills and proven experience in undertaking high quality, analytical assessments with adults and children.   Alongside undertaking initial visits and assessments of prospective foster carers, you will be delivering the ‘Skills to Foster’ training, supporting the service at targeted recruitment and information events and attending Fostering Panels. Strong presentation skills and a confident and articulate style is necessary.  A large part of your work will include the assessment, support and supervision of connected persons carers, working collaboratively with the team around the child, to achieve the very best outcomes.   You will need to show that you are disciplined, highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines.

You will also work in line with KCC’s values which are to be curious to innovate and improve; be compassionate, understanding, and respectful to all; share knowledge with others; be responsible for the difference we make; and to accept and offer challenge and ultimately do the right thing.

The role includes evening and weekend work so a flexible approach and the ability to travel in a timely and effective manner across the County and (on occasions) out of County is required.  You should have a good understanding of the Fostering Regulations, National Minimum Standards and the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations.

This is an opportunity to join a team whose goals are to increase the number of carers in Kent and ensure that the carers assessed are able to meet the needs of the children and young people who will be placed with them. 

The post holder will receive a car allowance and the market premium (as per criteria)

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. 

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
