Financial Assessment and Benefit Officer

Role Responsibility

We are looking to recruit to multiple positions within our Financial Assessment and Income Unit. The positions of Financial Assessment & Benefit Officers are based in either Broadstairs or Maidstone however, we undertake hybrid working, meaning that we work from home and the office, depending on business needs. The positions available are Fixed Term for 6 months, full time (37 hours per week) and part time (27 hours per week).

This postholder provides the front-facing role for the accurate completion of means tested financial assessments for people who are receiving services covering Adult Social Care. You will establish how much they need to pay towards the cost of their care. You will make sure they fully understand how their contribution towards the cost of care and support has been calculated and how to pay. This may mean that you will need to visit  them in their own home to complete the assessment.

You must be positive, engaging, adaptable to change, and possess excellent organisational, numeracy and communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate compassion and knowledge when working with people in order to quickly build rapport whilst calculating charges for care in a professional, diplomatic and supportive manner.

You will be provided with a comprehensive training program so that you are able to deliver the requirements of this role, this training will take place in Broadstairs. If you are flexible, adaptable, can work under pressure, hold all the necessary skills, experience, and knowledge, and are prepared to go the extra mile, then this is an excellent opportunity for you to work within a dynamic and developing environment.

These posts are considered by Kent County Council to be customer-facing positions. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
