Experienced Social Worker - Front Door Service
Role Responsibility
Here at the Front Door Service for Kent County Council Integrated Children’s Services, we receive and respond to all Requests for Support at Intensive Level 3 of the Support Level Guidance, or above. Requests for Support are either appropriately returned to the referrer with guidance, or passed on to the most appropriate service for ongoing support and intervention with the required consents. As part of this fast paced service we need to work with accuracy at speed, to ensure we meet the required timescales to avoid any delay in seeking the right support for the child and family.
The Front Door Service are currently looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker to join one of our 6 Teams. They will be responsible for completing this rewarding but often complex and challenging work. You must be able to gather further information from multiple sources, make enquiries as required and necessary to inform threshold decision making and use the Support Level Guidance document to ensure the right level of support for the child/family is correctly identified. You will also be on rota as part of the first port of call for professionals seeking consultation guidance.

Successful applicants will hold a degree in social work – CQSW, DipSW or equivalent and have a variety of post-qualification experience of working within Children’s Services. They will have the ability to work calmly and efficiently in a pressured environment, have excellent communication and literacy skills along with the ability to support case management decisions. They will be working within a duty rota system closely with other team members utilising core social work skills both in assessment and analysis.
This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh Sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the job description/person specification.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
Salary is dependent on experience and progression through the career grade is based on the fulfilment of required capabilities. Applicants must be able to evidence that they have successfully progressed to the required competency level via a recognised career progression pathway when they submit their application.
