Environmental Engagement and Behaviour Change Manager

Role Responsibility

We are looking for a creative and innovative environmental engagement and behaviour change manager to help drive action towards our Net Zero climate change targets. If you have experience of implementing successful communications campaigns, strong partnership skills and excellent knowledge of environmental issues, then we would like to hear from you.

The Sustainable Business and Communities team deliver a range of Environment Strategy initiatives to support the low carbon economy and help residents, businesses and public sector services become more resource efficient and resilient to climate change. We have recently published the Kent and Medway Energy and Low Emissions Strategy and are now looking for someone to develop and manage our climate change communications, engagement and behaviour change activities.

The main purpose of this role is to implement the Kent Environmental Communications and Engagement Strategy and provide expert-level input into related behaviour change programmes being delivered by the team and our partners. The role will drive effective and efficient day-to-day delivery of key communication and engagement initiatives, including conferences and workshops, multi-partner behaviour change campaigns, promotional news and reports, and customer insight and analysis. The post holder will also be responsible for leading and facilitating the development of the Kent Green Action Communications Network; a network of local public sector environmental communications experts working on joint projects and campaigns.

We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communications skills to develop engaging content, and strong interpersonal skills to nurture strong relationships with staff and partners. You’ll need a creative, innovative, and proactive approach to developing engagement and behaviour change campaigns, and excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage workloads and undertake medium-term project/programme planning. Your enthusiasm for the environment will allow you to fit quickly into this established, hardworking team.

Please note that the team are currently working full time from home, and the interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.

Interviews are likely to take place on the Wednesday 16 June and the Friday 18 June.
