Engagement & Support Assistant

Role Responsibility

We currently have some new and exciting job opportunities for Engagement & Support Assistants to join our collaborative, supportive and customer-focused programme. 

These roles are fixed-term until March 2024 and will support the Digital Inclusion & Capabilities workstream (Digital Kent) within Financial Hardship Programme, with opportunity to support other teams across the programme and potentially the organisation. 

These are newly created, flexible and impactful roles. The successful candidates will engage, inspire and motivate residents (and businesses) to be more socially and digitally included by delivering high-quality group sessions and workshops within the community, as well as supporting individuals on an individual basis.

We are looking to recruit someone for 22 hours per week but alternative working hours and patterns would be considered and can be discussed at interview.  who will be responsible for contributing to programme objectives for their geographical area across the county. The proposed geographical areas (subject to change), based on the borough/district boundaries, are:

  • North & East Kent (Canterbury, Swale, Dartford and Gravesham)
  • South East Kent (Ashford, Folkestone & Hythe, Dover and Thanet)
  • West & Mid Kent (Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge & Malling and Tunbridge Wells)

In addition to the three geographical positions, we are also looking to fill roles that have a county-wide focus, aligned with our established projects and schemes.

As a programme, our team are working flexibly. The expectation that successful candidates will work from home with travel around their agreed geographical area, with occasional visits to our offices. 

The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The role is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Interviews are scheduled to take place early in January 2023.
