Education Support Officer - Previously Looked After Children

Virtual School Kent supports children and young people in care and those who have left care under an adoption, special guardianship or child arrangements order to achieve and contribute positively to their communities now and in the future. We are a diverse and rapidly developing organisation who value the children’s voices in shaping our policies and services.

What we are looking for

A person who is

  • motivated, supportive and has inclusion at the heart of what they do.
  • experienced in supporting children and young people in educational settings - and can bring their knowledge/approaches to working at VSK
  • able to work independently out in settings and as part of a team
  • understanding of safety being paramount for the children/young people
  • flexible and adaptive to the different needs of our children and young people
  • have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs and processes.

There are two posts available: one covering North and West Kent (Office Base Worral House in West Malling) and one covering South and East Kent (Office Base Brook House in Whitstable).

Depending on Covid restrictions, a significant part of the working week may be spent in different educational settings across the area so the ability to travel across the area in a timely and flexible manner is essential.
