Early Help Worker

Our Vision is that every child and young person, from pre-birth to age 25, and their family, who needs early help services will receive them in a timely and responsive way, so that they are safeguarded, their educational, social and emotional needs are met and outcomes are good, and they are able to contribute positively to their communities now and in the future, including their active engagement in learning and employment.
About the role:
The Early Help Units are composed of a Unit Leader, Senior Early Help Workers and Early Help Workers supported by an administrative officer. Working together using a systemic approach, the unit undertakes casework with a range of families with children of all ages requiring intensive support for multiple issues. These issues may include domestic violence, out of court disposals, prevention of the need for statutory social care intervention, children and young people experiencing significant attendance or behaviour difficulties at school as well as step-downs from Children Social Work Services.
The vacancies are for full time Early Help Workers in the West Area of Kent.
The vacancies are based in the following districts in the West.
- Tunbridge Wells
- Tonbridge and Malling

You will hold a relevant diploma (or level 3 equivalent) in childcare, health, social care, youth justice, education, youth work or a relevant field with experience in a relevant role and have some experience of working within a targeted support, social care, youth justice, health, education or youth work setting. With the ability to create a rapport and build relationships with children, young people and families, you will be able to gather and interpret information from a range of sources. You’ll have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks. You will be flexible in your approach and committed to helping to develop a new way of working. You will be willing to learn, working collaboratively to innovate and find new solutions, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
