Children’s Centre Early Help Support Worker

Kent Open Access Children’s Centres offer a range of support services for families with children aged 0-7 as part of Kent’s Early Help and Preventative Services. They are welcoming places which offer activities, health services, training opportunities and parenting support to support children having the best start in life.  They offer high quality play and learning environments and ensure stimulating opportunities for children. Sevenoaks District has children’s centres located in Swanley, New Ash Green, West Kingsdown, Sevenoaks and Edenbridge.

As an Early Help Support Worker, you will be part of a district team responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating a range of groups aimed at children aged 0-7 and their parents based on the EYFS across all the centres across the district and outreach locations such as libraries. Early Help Support Workers build positive relationships with families in these groups, providing advice and guidance on a range of topics related to early years and social issues. You will be assigned a range of early years settings in the local area to visit and signpost to our services. Across the team, staff take on additional responsibility for sharing information on a particular topic area, for example Free Early Education, Public Health campaigns or Baby Friendly Initiative.

About You:

You will hold a recognised qualification and have professional work background relevant to the job you are applying for e.g., early years/family support/health/education. 
  
Be passionate about changing outcomes for children and young people. 

Have good communication skills to engage children and young people and families to participate in Open Access services.  This will include working with parents, and you will demonstrate the ability to establish warm, respectful, and supportive relationships with children across all age groups along with their parents, families, and carers.

A team player as well as able to work on own initiative.

Have knowledge of safeguarding and relevant legislation.

Ability to work in partnership across a range of providers including Health, Schools, and voluntary organisations.

Willingness to work across the sites and the District as a whole.
