EHC Casework Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

Our SEND service is now recruiting to several EHC Casework Officers to expand our service and increase capacity within the KCC Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) service.

We have redesigned the way that we work in SEND from the bottom up and we have developed something that we think is unique in the country.  It offers an unparalleled variety of opportunities working in the largest authority in the country and we have ensured that there is investment in people through our continuous professional development offer.

In this role, you will be actively involved in communication with, depending on your team, early years settings, and schools, or Post 16 colleges and training providers making, where appropriate, minor amendments to education and health and care (EHC) plans.  You will have skills in identifying when an EHC plan may need more significant amendments that may require advice from a senior officer.

You will have a set caseload for which you will be responsible for ensuring timely annual reviews are planned and executed, in accordance with statutory timelines.  Frequent communication will be required with colleagues, education providers and wider professionals.

This is a highly demanding role, and you will be working in an established experienced and supportive team, and you will have many opportunities to extend your skills and experience further in a children's services authority.  We have a commitment to continuous professional development in our service.

Please indicate on your application if you would prefer a post within school aged children’s team, or preparing for adulthood (mainly Post 16).

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
