Driver - Community Day Service

Role Responsibility

We have an exciting opportunity arisen within out Community Day Service, you will work across the Dartford Gravesham and Swanley locality, supporting Individuals with Learning and/or Physical disabilities to access and be a part of their local community, you will be working from various hubs within the locality.

You will assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of people with learning disabilities by using a person centred approach, providing them with encouragement, support and assistance, promoting their social inclusion and promoting their rights and choice under the supervision and direction of a senior member of staff and within the context of County and Directorate procedures, as well as primary care legislation, to enable to people with learning disabilities to live more independent and fulfilled lives.

Relevant experience of care and support of other individuals (this can include voluntary experience and personal experiences as well as paid work), including within the public, private or voluntary sectors in the care of adults, working with people with learning disabilities. You will need to have an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities with challenging behaviour, Autism, epilepsy and other disabilities.

You will be expected to drive the mini bus in accordance with the Highway Code, the County Council's Code of practice for mini bus drivers and training provided by the Road Safety Unit of the county Council to maintain client, staff and public safety whilst on the highway.

This role is subject to holding a full UK Driving Licence.

You will be expected to complete all mandatory training relevant to the role.

This post is a split shift, two hours in the morning - 08.30 - 10.30 and two hours in the afternoon - 14.30 - 16.30

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
