Director of Public Health
Role Responsibility
Enhancing the health and wellbeing of a million plus of people is a tall order, but at Kent County Council, we know it can happen with the right people leading. We’re looking for an inspirational director who has the energy, ideas and ambition to make a sustained difference to the people of Kent.
You will be a registered GMC, GDC or UK PHR public health specialist with significant experience in all areas of public health practice and be an effective leader able to build upon the system wide partnership response to Covid in Kent. A key challenge will be the development of innovative solutions to reduce inequalities in health outcomes and protect local communities from public health hazards. You’ll be the principal adviser on all public health matters to our elected members, officers and partners – your remit will span health improvement, health protection and healthcare.
As a member of our Corporate Management Team, you will be integral in leading and driving the successful delivery of our Strategic Plan which has a strong focus throughout on the health and wellbeing of Kent’s population, an emphasis on the importance of demand management and prevention and the Authority’s role in helping the population make lifestyle choices to help achieve their potential.
This role offers huge scope for impact – the decisions you make, the policies you introduce and the services you deliver will have a lasting impact on the lives of our residents.
