Director of Children's Countywide Services

Role Responsibility

Reporting to our Corporate Director of Children, Young People and Education, you will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of a range of countywide children’s services including:

• safeguarding, professional standards and quality assurance
• front door services (the busiest and largest in the country)
• management information and intelligence - using data to inform practice.

Our 1.8 million residents with distinct geographies and communities, will guarantee a varied workload and every day will be different.

You’ll be tasked with ensuring consistently high-quality practice across all social work and special educational needs and disability services, as well as looking to the future to consider how the county can best implement recommendations from the MacAlister Care Review Report, and how we can innovate to continuously improve.

This role calls for a social care leader who has both operational and strategic experience of delivering children in need, child protection, corporate parenting, quality assurance or safeguarding services.

And as part of the senior management team, the ability to work corporately and with a wide range of stakeholders to innovate and drive improvement will be required for success.
