Customer Support Assistant

Role Responsibility

The work of the library service is hugely rewarding and every day the front of house teams make a difference to the lives of their customers and local communities. Libraries have a lot more to offer than just books; with reading groups, talks and exhibitions there are activities for every age group – from Baby Rhyme Time to internet classes for older people.

To deliver all this, we need the right people serving our customers who are friendly, outgoing and approachable. 

If you enjoy working as part of a team and are passionate about delivering great customer service to the local community, we would love to hear from you.

Candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills, feel comfortable meeting and engaging with the public and be able to undertake a diverse range of tasks. If you have a positive outlook and good personal resilience, then this could the role for you.

Week 1 = 12.5 hours

Week 2 = 18 hours

Total is 30.5 hrs over the 2 weeks

Hours per week are worked across a range of hours including every Saturday, and you will be required to undertake periods of lone working, as well as working at other locations across the Gravesend Library district. 

Week 1

Mon - Higham Library 9am - 1pm

Thurs - Gravesend Library 10am- 2:30pm 

Sat - Higham Library 9am-1pm

Week 2

Mon - Gravesend Library 10am - 2:45pm

Tue - Gravesend Library 10am - 5pm (lunch break 1 hour not paid for so 6 hours working day)

Wed - Vigo Library 1:45 - 5pm

Sat - Gravesend 10am - 2pm

Location could change at short notice due to Business needs.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
