Role Responsibility

Gateway Customer Service Advisor working at Ashford Gateway Plus 

37 hours per week Monday - Friday

Gateway offers multiple services to customers, which includes Kent County Council services supported by a range of partner services from the public and voluntary sectors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work full time within the Gateway Customer Service Team, based at Ashford Gateway Plus, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1AS, with flexibility to work at other Gateway locations, including Tenterden Gateway should service needs require. 

This is a front-line customer services role, and you will be providing advice and guidance to a wide range of customers and assisting them to access services. You must demonstrate excellent people skills and be able to adapt your communication style to match individual’s needs. You will need good organisational skills to be able to collate and manage information to enable you to develop a knowledge base to assist customers. 

The role is varied, and you must be able to work under your own initiative. You will need to be resilient and confident in dealing with a variety of enquiries and handling situations as they arise. 

You will work as part of a team and alongside other departments and provide support to the Gateway Co-Ordinator in the efficient running of the Gateway. 

Starting salary of £26,956 per annum with performance related pay increases.

Option to enrol in the Local Government Pension scheme with employer matched contributions

29 days paid annual leave per year (rising to 30 after 5 years service) plus bank holidays and one concessionary day

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
