Customer Relations Assistant
Role Responsibility
Do you have a passion for helping people find the right option for them? Are you looking for a part time, fixed term contract? If so, you may be interested in joining the team in one of our vibrant adult education centres.
Our Adult Education centres host tutors and students from Kent Adult Education and Kent Training and Apprenticeships, who come to study a range of subjects from English, Maths and IT to languages or Arts and Crafts. We also help people take the first steps in getting back into learning and work.
We are looking for somebody to join our Tunbridge Wells team at our centre in The Amelia, Tunbridge Wells. The role will be based in Tunbridge Wells but, on occasion, you may be asked to help cover one of our other centres.
Your role will be to act as the main point of contact between us (Community Learning & Skills / Kent Adult Education) and our customers. You’ll be providing information and guidance on our courses and services, advising on funding support, enrolling people onto courses, managing student data, setting up classrooms for teaching and ensuring a safe learning environment. There will be a mix of telephone, email and face to face communication. The role is interesting and varied and we need somebody who can work under their own initiative.
You should have good customer service, sales and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collate and manage information. You should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and be willing to learn to use our bespoke management information system. You will possess Level 2 or GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
The post requires a flexible working approach, and we endeavour to be flexible in return. This role is offering 18.5 hours per week (0.5 Full time equivalent). The working pattern will have variable hours and because we run evening classes, will include one evening attendance per week (up to 10pm) during term time. There may be some Saturday attendance too.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
As a Kent County Council employee, you will enjoy the following great benefits:
- 27 days annual leave rising to 29 after 5 years, plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time roles)
- Comprehensive training in the role
- Competitive salary
- Local Government Pension Scheme.
- Opportunities for training and professional development.
- A wide range of health and wellbeing support.
- Good work/life balance
- Access to Kent Rewards scheme, with discounts and cashback from hundreds of companies
