County Access to Education Manager

Role Responsibility

12 month fixed term / secondment opportunity

Working within the Fair Access service of Kent County Council, Access to Education is responsible for many important functions such as In Year School Admissions, Elective Home Education, Children Missing Education, Hard to Place Children and the implementation of Fair Access Protocols.

Access to Education is a fast paced and dynamic department, seeking a highly organised and attentive manager who is able to evidence a strong experience of effective process building and implementation, safeguarding, and drafting and consulting on new areas of policy and legislation.

We are looking for an experienced manager who is committed to delivering excellent public services with transparency and accountability and has a strong background in partnership working, evidence-based decision making and communications. You will need to be comfortable collaborating with colleagues at every level of the organisation. Displaying a willingness to support the wellbeing of staff and enable their ongoing development is essential, whilst continuing to ensure the service can meet complex and changing legal duties.

You will continue to develop and improve services in the portfolio, strengthening professional relationships with other teams and services across the council, as well as with schools. 

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

As part of the interview process for this role you may be required to complete additional testing. As part of the interview process for this role you will be required to attend a group assessment exercise which will include a presentation on a relevant area of legislation or required skill set. A further interview may be necessary to finalise the successful candidate.
