Corporate Communications Officer
Role Responsibility
A career in local government communications offers you the chance to work on some of the biggest issues of the day, while making a real difference to peoples' lives here in Kent.
Kent County Council is looking for a talented and creative Corporate Communications Officer to join our dynamic communications and marketing team.
As the gateway to Europe, and the largest local authority in the UK, Kent faces some of the most complex challenges a communications professional can face. KCC’s Corporate Communications Officer will need to successfully communicate policies to residents and the media, support the delivery of services and keep the public informed in a crisis.
We want someone who can deliver fast-paced, creative comms across a range of channels. Someone who has the expertise and initiative to support a multi-channel approach and produce innovative content to support PR, campaigns and all online activity, all of which support KCC’s strategic priorities.
You must have a good understanding of how the media works, excellent communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with stakeholders, develop outstanding relationships with directors and cabinet members and work collaboratively within the Marketing and Resident Experience team.
As KCC Corporate Communications Officer you will be working in a highly politicised, complex environment under tight time pressures and dealing with sensitive issues across all directorates.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to take the next step in their career within PR & Marketing.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
