Coroners Administration Officer (CAO)

Role Responsibility

This is your chance to play a key support role within the Coroners’ Office for Kent and Medway. You will work under judicial direction to deliver some key administrative support functions and court ushering duties as part of the KCC Coroner Service Team.

Diligent in your approach with a very high level of accuracy, you will work flexibly and collaboratively with the Team to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

Your ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage competing demands will be matched by your knowledge and experience using keyboard skills, electronic databases and spreadsheets.

Liaising with bereaved families, jurors and other witnesses will also be a vital part of your role.

Fully committed to confidentiality, you will bring a proven track record in an administrative role with a strong customer service element. You will have the communication and negotiation skills and initiative to engage with people suffering emotional distress and facilitate circumstances where cultural or religious observances may be significant.

The position is based in Maidstone and is full-time, 37 hours per week (9am to 5pm Monday to Friday).

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
