Role Responsibility

Bluebells Short Breaks Unit provides overnight short breaks for children and young people who have learning disabilities and/or complex health needs from the age of five until their eighteenth birthday. 

We are seeking a Cook to join our team to prepare nutritious meals for up to 3 children/young people and 3 staff at any one time, whilst adhering to individual dietary requirements of the children/young people in residence. The post will include some weekends as well as afternoon/evenings

You need to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen and work in compliance with Health and Safety requirements. You will check that kitchen equipment is fit for purpose and manage stock ordering/replenishment.

A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Food Safety is required and additional training will be provided to support you in the role. 

Interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with Care’ assessment process.

This post involves working closely with children and young adults. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
